This short text describes how to apply an update to Fantasm 4. Fantasm 5 updates are handled via our subscription service.
The first thing to be aware of is that the updater will only work if the program you are updating is exactly the same as the program we updated. Sounds obvious, but it is easy to change a program without realising it. For example, just opening a program with a resource editor, such as Resedit(tm) can change the program. We have noticed that even if you cancel changes in Resedit(tm) before quitting, the changes are still made!
Thus if you are having problems applying an update, do try reinstalling from your master disks first then applying the update to that. More often than not, this will allow the update to go smoothly.
If after successfully applying an update you find that Eddie will not load Fantasm any more, the reason is probably because you have not renamed the updated file(s) back to "Fantasm" (or "PowerFantasm") and Eddie. The only sure way Eddie knows Fantasm is Fantasm is from it's name. Also both Fantasm and Eddie must be in the same folder.
If after checking all of the above, you still can't get an update applied, contact us via email, quoting your real name and serial number, and we will mail back new versions of the software. We cannot mail without your serial number.
